Łazarz, Wilda, Jeżyce – three districts of Poznań with an unigue character. Each of them has something unique, but at the same time they have a lot in common. Together they form the inner city zone surrounding the centre of Poznań. Each neighborhood separately creates an original world, built by people strongly connected to their neighborhood and local heritage. Discover them with us!
Fest Fyrtel?
Fest Fyrtel is the “best district”. The words come from the Poznań dialect – a dialect characteristic of the inhabitants of Poznań – still used in some regions of Wielkopolska. Fest Fyrtel is primarily aimed at disseminating knowledge about the past and cultural heritage of three inner-city areas: Jeżyce, Wildy and Lazarus. They are guided by the idea that the inhabitants themselves – the hosts and housewives of their neighbourhoods – know best what their neighbourhoods were, are and should be, as well as what is most interesting and worth keeping in mind.

WE DOING?
We listen to the voice of the residents of the neighbourhoods, and knowing their needs, we act on many levels. Workshops, exhibitions, guided walks are just some of our local initiatives. During the workshops with residents, we created three maps of Poznań districts. They present the most interesting places, characters and stories related to a given district. Thanks to this, we can get to know the unique character and identity of each of them.
When autumn comes, we go for guided walks. Together we discover both well-known and quite unobvious places and trails telling the stories of three districts. Each walk is a different, local story about the life of the inhabitants, architecture and historic spaces of Lazarus, Wilde and Jeżyce.
One of the activities of Fest Fyrtla are temporary exhibitions of posters placed in shop windows. They encourage you to visit local places and learn about their history illustrated by historical postcards and photos. On the posters we also present short stories about characters whose lives have marked the history of the district.
LEFT OF US?
We create a social archive of Łazarz, Wilda and Jeżyce. The materials we archive are an invaluable source of stories about the life of the inhabitants, the history of the district, as well as material allowing us to search for local history and the roots of our ancestors.
DISTRICTS
On June 28, 1956, disillusioned and demanding an improvement in living conditions, the Ceglorz workers (current name of the machine factory founded by Hipolit Cegielski in Wilde) declared a revolt, which was the first such large-scale public demonstration in Poland against communist power.
The National Exhibition organized in 1929 on the grounds of Lazarz was a great event presenting the achievements of 10 years of independent Poland. This contributed to the reconstruction and modernization of Poznań.
In the past, fyrtle were villages that became part of the city at the time of the historical enlargement of the borders of Poznań on 1 April 1900.
Fyrtle developed particularly dynamically at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, hence the typical form of development for them is a tenement house.
On August 10, 1848, the first train on the railroad connecting Poznan with Stargardt departed from the station located in the suburb of Jerzyce.
